Doubts

If you’ve got doubts & questions about God and spiritual stuff, you’re not alone!

Lots of people struggle with their faith & beliefs.

And the bible is honest about this.

“...the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
“When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted” (Matthew 28:17)
Now Thomas was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:24-28)

Belief and faith is often a journey and a process.

And this is true for both believers and the yet-to-be convinced.

If you’ve got questions, the best thing to do is to ask them! Then listen to what’s said, weigh it up, and be open to believing.

This is what Jesus said to Thomas after he’d shown him his hands and his feet

“Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. (John 20:29-31)

A good part of the bible to start with is the gospel of Mark. It's a biography of Jesus' life, teachings, miracles, death and resurrection.

God?

Suffering?

I doubt a loving God would allow so much evil and suffering in the world. Surely if God was real, he’d either not let it happen, or he’d answer our prayers and do something about it.

Religious Violence?

I doubt Christianity is true because religions cause wars. And the bible itself is full of bloodshed.In the Old Testament God Himself commanded genocide. And throughout history Christians have done horrible things in the name of God, like the Crusades. How can you want to follow a God like that?

Hypocrisy?

I doubt following Jesus is worth it because Christians are such hypocrites and the church is full of sexual abuse, greed, and cover-ups.
