Caleb’s Dedication! 13-9-09

Caleb Ekins was dedicated on the 13 September 2009 @ COAST EC. Let's see what Chris and Sharon have to say about this exciting event...

Caleb is a great kid! He loves life, eating, having baths, blowing raspberries, and blowing bubbles with his food. When he grows up, he wants to be a pro-wrestler. We love him and we thank God for him.

Why did we call him Caleb? In the bible, Caleb was a warrior who trusted God. God said: “my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly” (Numbers 14). And that’s what we want for our boy too.
We want him to know, love and serve God wholeheartedly, and we pray that for him nearly every day.

God’s Word has some great instructions for us about raising our kids to love God. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.” (Deuteronomy 6:5-7)

So, to symbolise our intention to raise Caleb that way, when we dedicated Caleb to God in prayer, we gave him a ‘wholehearted’ headband.

Thanks to Neil and Lou Souter who’ve signed up to be his God parents! And also a big thanks to everyone at COAST EC for being his spiritual tribe. Please help us to raise him well.
