Hey family - we need your help!CoastEC exists to make more and better disciples of Jesus! And disciple-making ministry costs money.
This year's budgeted expenses were $430,000. To help cover that we used about two thirds of our Savings ($137,000). This enabled us to employ additional staff and start a new service at Hallidays (which is what we'd saved up for).
If we're going to run the same ministries next year (and employ a Kids Pastor to replace Pete), we'll need to raise an extra $100,000.
To help us with our budgeting and planning, we're asking all who call CoastEC their church to do 2 things
- Prayerfully consider how much you will give next year
- Let us know your best estimate before the 25th Nov
Our ministries are funded solely by the generosity of God's people who want to partner with us in our mission.
In the Old Testament, God's people were commanded to give a tithe to God (the first 10% of the income), to support the work of the temple.
In the New Testament, we are no longer under the law of the tithe, although some people still find the tithe a helpful guide. God's still calls us to serve Him with our money by supporting gospel work, but now the principle is generosity that reflects His character and purposes. In light of the gospel, we are to give generously, joyfully and sacrificially, with Jesus as our model (see Matt 6:19-24, 1 Cor 9, 2 Cor 8-9). Giving regularly will also help our church manage our resources.
Our goal is to hit $280,000 in Estimated Giving Pledges for 2019 (and we'll seek to raise another $150,000 from other sources)
We're asking our people to give their 'best guess' about their 2019 giving, so we can make our 'best guess' about what we can do as a church in 2019.
