God’s purposes for CoastEC

Hi people,

As we launch into a new year, I'm excited about the new 5-week teaching series that will we'll be embarking on. We'll be looking at God's purposes for His people as revealed in scripture. We will then be committing ourselves to them and working out what they will look like in practice for us at CoastEC.

The 5 main purposes we'll be exploring are:

1. Magnification - CoastEC exists for the glory of God and the renown of His Name.
2. Mission - CoastEC is passionate about God's mission to the world - to bring all things under the headship of Christ.
3. Ministry - CoastEC is committed to helping it's members get involved in serving others practically so they're built up in the faith
4. Maturity - CoastEC is committed to growing mature followers of Jesus - growing them in the knowledge of God's Word, Love for God, and Christlike character.
5. Membership - CoastEC is committed to helping people belong to God's family - enjoying the privileges and taking on the responsibilities of caring for other members.

From this point on, we will be organising our church-life around these 5 major purposes. They will shape our priorities and practices and will determine the use of our resources.

We will be organising staff time and roles around these purposes.
Ruth Shooter will be joining us in Feb, and she will be heading up Magnification (especially as it relates to our public gatherings) and Ministry (establishing ministry teams, coaching ministry drivers, and helping members find an avenue to serve).
I will be heading up the areas of Mission, Maturity and Membership.

I am asking you all to pray hard that God's purposes for us would become the cornerstone our lives - individually and corporately - as we commit ourselves to whole-heartedly embracing them and working together to see Jesus honoured.

Bring on 2011 and bring on The Lord working in, amongst and through us.
