Prayer Update (July 2012)

Hi friends!
Thanks for your continued prayer & support! It’s been a great year for me personally, with the exciting new addition of Chloe Hope to Team Ekins. She’s great, and both Caleb and Hannah have welcomed their new little sister well. Sharon’s labour was very traumatic and we nearly lost her, so I’m extremely thankful to God for His mercy and for Sharon’s recovery. There’s also been plenty happening with church, so here’s an update and some things to pray about. Much love,
Chris (on behalf of CoastEC).

    1. Kids and Youth Mission Teams
We are blessed to have two different teams of young adults coming to town to partner with us in reaching out to the kids and youth of our region. 21 young adults from St Matts West Pennant Hills (my home church) are coming to run Holiday Hang Out (for kids in primary school from Sun1st – Wed 4th July). And another team (from various churches) are coming to partner with us in reaching teenagers over the winter school holidays at the Solid Rock Café. Please pray for safety for the team as they travel; for good preparation; for faithfulness in sharing the gospel and their testimonies; and that many young people hear about Jesus, and have a desire to know Him more. Ask that many would start coming to kids church on Sundays (Grommets), and youth group on Friday nights (Wired and Rock).

    2. Starting another Sunday Service
God willing, we will be launching a new 6pm service on October 14th which will help us connect with even more people. Here’s a blurb from Ruthie: “Praise God for all those who have grasped a heart for the mission of Coast EC to serve our Great God using the gifts that He has so graciously given each one of us, so that many more people will come to know our Lord and Saviour. I have been and will continue to be actively recruiting for all ministries over the next couple of months to help strengthen the teams with new members in preparation to plant the 6pm service. Please pray that God would continue to raise up leaders among us for all ministries to lead teams and ministries with energy and passion to cope with the growth we have seen. Pray for a burden to be placed on people’s hearts with gifts in kids ministry, youth and sound. God is good and its a beautiful thing when all the parts of the body work together for His Glory!”

    3. New Staff for 2013!
Our basic strategy for growing as a church is to multiply everything we’re doing (home groups, youth groups, kids church, church services) and that requires growing our leadership base. So after months of interviewing lots of people, and asking God to raise up the right man for the job, we’ve found our man. Dev Blair will come on board in January to oversee the recruiting, training, equipping and supporting of our leaders (our home group leaders and ministry co-ordinators). Praise God for providing! Pray that Dev finishes well at bible college (SMBC), and that he and his family (AJ his wife, kids Kaylee and Judah) make the transition to living and serving Jesus in Forster well. And praise God that Ruth will be staying on the team part time again next year! Her focus will shift from Ministries Co-ordinator to Missions (equipping us to live as local missionaries). Please ask God to help her make that transition well, and for all the staff to work well together.

God has continued to graciously meet all our needs and pay all our bills, thru the loving and sacrificial giving of His people. Thanks for your generosity and gospel partnership. We really value it. Our budget will be increasing significantly next year, so if you are currently supporting us financially, can you please keep it up? And if you’re not, could you please consider starting? For more info head here for info on how you can give.
